In this clip from www.artistshousemusic.org - Brian Lynch is a jazz trumpeter and a faculty member at New York University's Steinhardt School. He has toured with Eddie Palmieri, the Afro-Caribbean Jazz Octet, and the Phil Woods Quintet.
Brian Lynch, from NYU, gives wonderful insight into the world of the professional musician. Items I particularly like that Brian mentions in this class are his advice on breathing and stream playing. His very fast single tongue is amazing. I am just a little concerned about his head tilting, but his advice about relaxation is spot on. His description of putting more layers on the onion are an excellent insights too. Gary |

John Hagstrom trumpet clinic: John Hagstrom has been a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's trumpet section since 1996, when he won the audition for fourth trumpet. A year later, he won the second trumpet position, carrying on the tradition of brass section teamwork for which the CSO is famous. In addition to his position with the CSO he currently leads the trumpet studio at DePaul University. HARRY JAMES - FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLEBEE – FILMSTRIP Harry James, premier trumpet virtuoso, Jazz superstar and Big Band leader performs his arrangement of the Rimsky-Korsokov classic, FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLEBEE, in this clip from the hit MGM musical, BEST FOOT FORWARD. The popular bandleader and trumpet star was prominently featured with his band in this film along with Lucille Ball, June Allyson, Nancy Walker and Tommy Dix. Harry James was probably the most famous trumpeter of the twentieth century due to his many hit records, feature films and big band tours across the United States, Europe and Latin America throughout the 1940's, '50's, '60's and '70's. He performed up to the very end playing a Los Angeles concert date one week before he died, July 5, 1983 at age 67. Most of the major trumpeters of the last 50 years consider James to have been one of their major influences both for style and technique.
